It was a day to be a Taylor/Tayler as New Zealand's Tayler Reid and American Taylor Knibb topped the fields at the ITU U23 World Championship on Australia's Gold Coast.

Before Saturday and Sunday's elite races at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final 2018 on the Gold Coast, the U23 athletes hit the course today. Competing over the standard distance (1.5 km/ 40 km/ 10 km) New Zealand's Tayler Reid (1:44:08) took the world title ahead of Samuel Dickonson (GBR / 1:44:20) and Bence Bicsák (HUN / 1:44:31). Defending champion Léo Bergere (FRA) narrowly missed the podium and finished fourth.
Knibb earns the world title
In the U23 women's race, the title went to Taylor Knibb of the USA (1:53:47), who took a chance on the bike, pulling clear of the rest of the field. She was ultimately rewarded with victory. Second place went to France's Cassandre Beaugrand (1:55:22) ahead of Angelica Olmo (ITA / 1:56:39).
