Last year's winner, Alistair Brownlee (GBR), will not be competing in tomorrow's Ironman 70.3 Dubai. This was confirmed at yesterday's press conference, but no reason was given.

Brownlee himself has not commented on the subject in any way and there is no concrete information about his race plans for 2019. He is registered for the final of the Super League in Singapore in late February, but on the Brownlee's website it suggests that only Jonny will be racing. At other Super League events Alistair has pulled out and taken on a commentator role.

Recently there has been word that the 30-year-old has ambitions to go after another Olympic start next year in Tokyo, which is why several WTS races are expected to be on the Alistair Brownlee's agenda again this year.
