Started in 2017 when the former host city of Ironman Canada, Penticton, put on the first event, the ITU Multisport World Championships has enjoyed both success and popularity for the two venues that have hosted the championships so far. Last year Fyn, Denmark served as the hosts and this year the event will take place in Pontevedra, Spain.

The event includes world championships in long distance, cross triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and aquabike.

The event is expected to attract 8,000 athletes and spectators for the 10 days of competitions. The event will be organized by Ironman Oceana and take place in August.
