Since 1992 Ironman Lanzarote has been a mainstay on the Ironman circuit. What makes the race truly unique is the island setting - race founder Kenneth Gasque competed in Kona in 1985 and saw so many similarities between the Big Island and his home of Lanzarote that he immediately started dreaming of putting on a full-distance race there.

It took until 1992 for that to happen, but since then Ironman Lanzarote has become a bucket-list race for triathletes from around the world. The day begins with a two-loop swim in the ocean off the beach in the resort town of Puerto del Carmen. The incredible bike course tours the island and features breathtaking views, two major mountain climbs and lots of wind. The day ends with the marathon course along the coast before finishing where it all began in Puerto del Carmen.

Registration is still open for this year's race.
