Set on New Zealand's spectacular South Island, Challenge Wanaka has long been renowned as one of the world's most scenic triatlhon races. This year's event serves as the New Zealand National Long Distance Championship and has attracted a star-studded field.
Six-time Wanaka champion Gina Crawford (NZL) is back to race after the birth of her second child. She takes on a tough field that includes Laura Siddall (GBR), a three-time runner up in Wanaka, Annabel Luxford (AUS), Amelia-Rose Watkinson (NZL) and Meredith Hill (AUS).
Dougal Allan (NZL) is back to defend his title and faces a deep field, too. Included amongst his competition are three-time Wanaka champ Dylan McNeice (NZL), Australian's Luke McKenzie and Luke Bell, along with Kiwi Braden Currie and Swizterland's Jan van Berkel.
One of the inaugural Challenge events after the founding of Challenge Roth, Challenge Wanaka started in 2007 and has become New Zealand's largest triathlon festival with 2,500 competitors.
