Australian Ellie Salthouse celebrated her 24th birthday earlier this month. In those 24 years she's already packed in quite a triathlon career. A silver medalist at the Youth Olympics in 2010, after graduating from school Salthouse found herself on a whirlwind tour of the world, spending half her year in Australia and the other half in Vitoria, Spain, copmeting in various ITU events for Australia. She also competed on the French Grand Prix circuit.
At the end of 2013 she decided to take a new approach to the sport and started to work with Siri Lindley. Last year she moved up to the half-distance, winning Challenge Melbourne, Rev Knoxville, Ironman 70.3 Boulder, Ironman 70.3 Miami and Challenge Shepparton. She was 11th in Mooloolaba at her first Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
Phil Wrochna caught up with Salthouse after her fourth-place finish at Ironman 70.3 Geelong in February.
