The exciting news continues as Mary Beth Ellis and husband Eric Olson are expecting their first child.
April 5, 2017 | PERSONALITY|
Mary Beth Ellis has added her name to the list of triathlon pros who are expecting this year. Ellis retired after competing at the Ironman World Championship last year. An 11-time Ironman champion, Ellis made a dramatic entry to Ironman racing by posting the fastest ever debut time of 8:43:43 at Ironman Austria in 2011. She would win three Ironman races that summer in order to earn enough points to qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kona.
Ellis should never have been as good as she was. Diagnosed with osteoarthritis in 2005, she switched from running to triathlon and quickly earned herself the nickname of "Honey Badger," representing the US in draft-legal racing and earning two runner-up finishes at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
In 2011 she started working with Brett Sutton and it wasn't long before she moved up to full-distance racing. In addition to all her Ironman titles she also took the ITU Long Distance World Championship in 2015. She's now working as a coach with Trisutto.com.
We wish Mary Beth and Eric all the best as they prepare for the arrival of the little one!
