According to a media report on the Stuff website and an Instagram post, Terenzo Bozzone was hit by a truck while training on the bike earlier today. He has been taken to Auckland City Hospital and is in stable condition.

"Terenzo was in an accident this afternoon in Kumeu," according to the post from Bozzone's Instagram account terenzo1. "He is in the emergency department where his injures are still being assessed. If anyone has information please contact Henderson Police. We would appreciate if you could respect the privacy of our family at this time. For any further media enquiries please contact the Auckland Police media line."

Bozzone has been setting himself up for a big showing at the Ironman World Championship later this year. After a sixth-place finish in Kona last October he went on to win Ironman Western Australia, followed that up by taking the Ironman New Zealand title that had eluded him for so long (in course-record time), took two 70.3 titles on successive weekends the week after the New Zealand race, then finished third at the Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship in Cairns, Australia last month.

Bozzone is a five-time world champion including the Ironman 70.3 world title in 2008 and two ITU duathlon and triathlon world junior titles. He and his wife, Kelly, have two children.
