Norway's Casper Stornes pulled off a shocker of a win in just his third WTS race by breaking away from the group on the third of ten challenging bike loops and staying clear on the run at the ITU World Triathlon Bermuda. His countrymen Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden chased hard, but had to "settle" with the second and third spots on the podium as Norway became the first country to sweep a men's WTS podium.

Fresh off his Commonwealth Games win, series leader Henri Schoeman led the way out of the water, but a large group formed early on the bike. On the third of the 10 challenging laps Stornes took a flyer and pulled away from the group. He would ride 30 km out front all alone, opening a gap of over two minutes at one point on the group. Heading into T2 Blummenfelt and Iden made a charge to get a bit clear of the group and started the run 80 seconds behind their countryman.

Stornes ran a strong first 5 km, giving back just a few seconds, which set him up for the win. Blummenfelt would win the sprint for second over Iden. Mario Mola used the day's fastest run to get fourth, which was enough to move the two-time world champion to the top of the series standings.
