Michael Raelert wants to defend his title at the Laguna Phuket Triathlon on Sunday. After winning the race last year ahead of Switzerland's Ruedi Wild and Stuart Hayes from Great Britain, Raelert is after an other win at the legendary Thai event.
"I arrived in Thailand a bit tired, but my legs feel good now," he says looking forward to the race. "I’m really happy to race on Sunday."
Raelert successfully returned to competition after a long break due to illness with two fourth-place finishes at Ironman 70.3 Miami and at Ironman 70.3 Austin.
"In Phuket, I want to build on these first positive experiences," he says from the Thanypura sports resort, where he's been acclimatizing for the race. "I am really looking forward to the race, especially because I will ride my new bike for the first time."
