While Lionel Sanders and Jan Frodeno are gearing up for a high-profile showdown in Oceanside this weekend, Patrick Lange appears to be following his usual understated approach as we learn that he'll be heading to Challenge Mogan Gran Canaria in a few weeks to get his season off and rolling.
Not that he won't be facing a tough field - joining the German for the fun and games on the men's side of things will be countryman Andi Boecherer and Sweden's Patrik Nilsson.
The women's field will feature last year's Kona runner-up, Lucy Charles (GBR).
This is the third edition of the race which is set on the beautiful Canary Island and features a challenging, half-distance course. There's also a "short-distance" race that features a 1.9 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run. Last year's event served as Alistair Brownlee's introduction to long-distance racing and attracted 400 athletes from 24 different countries. Similar numbers are expected this year.
