Emma Pallant put together a brilliant come-from-behind performance to take Ironman 70.3 Vichy. The race served as a nice tune up before the former British national team runner goes after another podium finish at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice. American Jocelyn McCauley was just a second behind Spain's Margie Santamaria after the swim, with Pallant and the rest of the chase pack over a minute behind. On the bike McCauley continued to pull away, starting the run with a 4:33 lead on France's Manon Genet and almost five minutes on Pallant.

Pallant scorched through the run in 76 minutes, taking the lead 15 km into the 21.1 km run and never looking back. McCauley held on for second with Genet finishing third.

Le Berre blasts on the bike

Kjel de Hertog led the way out of the water with David McNamee just a second behind, but once everyone got on the bike the race became the Yohan Le Berre show. The Frenchman was in front by 53 km and opened a gap of over two minutes by the end of the bike as Germany's Franz Loeschke rode his way to second, 2:17 down, with McNamee a couple more seconds down hitting T2.

Le Berre opened up some time on Loeschke and McNamee early on in the run, with the gap building to over three minutes by 11.5 km. McNamee was finally able to run clear of the German and would gain more time by the end of the run, but Le Berre was more than able to hang on for an impressive win. Loeschke hung on to take third.
