It all came down to the run in the men's race as Levi Maxwell, a former age-group Kona champion, took his first pro win at Challenge Shepparton, outrunning Tim Van Berkel to take the win. Fellow Aussie Matt Slee was still in the mix coming off the bike, but once the run started there was no stopping Maxwell, who used a 1:12:18 run split to nail the victory.

Annabel Luxford would have arrived in Shepparton as the prohibitive favorite, and lived up to that expectation in style. A blazing 24:55 swim split bested most of the men's split, which she followed with a game changing bike split that put her well out in front into T2. Grace Thek managed to run a bit faster than Luxford to ensure her runner up finish, while Courtney Gilfillan rounded out the podium.
