A fourth WTS win in Montreal puts Mario Mola in an excellent position to nail another world title this year, but Norway's Kristian Blummenfelt certainly didn't make things easy for the Spaniard, who had to put together one of his best runs of the season to nail the title.

South Africa's Henri Schoeman led the men out of the water and looked a bit lost as he strode into T1 without any company right on his heels. Without any sort of a swim break, a huge group powered out onto the wet roads of Old Montreal together. Denmark's Andreas Schilling made a bit of a go of a break for a few laps, but it wasn't until about halfway through the bike that a group managed to get clear when one of the Spaniards didn't pull through and allowed a break of four to get clear.

In that break was Blummenfelt Casper Stornes (DEN), Canadian Charles Paquet and Israel's Shachar Sagiv. They worked well together and managed to open up a gap of a minute on the chase group.

Which had Mola worried, but he needn't have been. Despite a gallant effort by Blummenfelt, Mola managed to get ahead abhout halfway through the last lap, posting a sub-30 10 km to nail the title. Blummenfelt hung tough for second, while Jacob Birtwhistle (AUS) pulled out yet another amazing kick to get past Richard Murray (RSA) for third.
