Kahlefeldt and Mendez take 70.3 Philippines

It's official - Radka Kahlefeldt is one bad-ass super-mom, dominating Ironman 70.3 Davao Philippines just 11 weeks after giving birth to baby Ruby, while Xterra world champ Maricio Mendez took the men's title.

Well this has to sit firmly in the "are you kidding me" category. Just 11 weeks after Radka Kahlefeldt (nee Vodickova) and husband Brad welcomed baby Ruby into the world, mom led from start to finish to win Ironman 70.3 Davao Philippines. The super-mom was over a minute clear of Kirralee Seidel out of the water and extended her lead on the bike, heading out on to the run with a seven-minute lead on Seidel and 10 minutes ahead of Lisa Tyack.

Kahlefeldt wasn't challenged at all on the run and easily took the title. Japan's Naomi Washizu ran her way to second, while Australian Dimity Lee Duke was also able to get past Tyack and Seidel to round out the podium.

Mendez runs to the win

Eric Watson led a group of six out of the water with the ageless Craig Alexander leading the chase group a little over a minute back. On the bike it turned into the Kyle Buckingham show as the South African pulled clear of the field and arrived into T2 just under two minutes ahead of Tim Reed and Timothy Van Berkel and another minute up on Alexander and Mendez.

Out on the run course it didn't take Reed, the 2016 70.3 world champ, to move into the lead, but he would start to fade over the second half of the run. Mendez used the day's fastest run to take the title. Reed hung on for second and was quick to call out a sporting gesture of Van Berkel, who finished third. Turns out Van Berkel shared some gels with his countryman - Reed said afterwards he wouldn't have been able to finish without those.
