Ironman 70.3 Gdynia has managed to entice another big name to the race on August 11. Over the years names like Andreas Raelert, Mirinda Carfrae and Daniela Ryf have attended the event - this year they'll be welcoming Jan Frodeno to the port city on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The race features a swim in the Baltic sea followed by a challenging one-loop bike course through the Kashubia region. The three-loop run takes place in the heart of Gdynia's tourist region and finishes at the main city beach, so there are typically huge crowds of supporters at the race.

Despite the tough bike course, Daniela Ryf managed an impressive 3:57 time in Gdynia last year, beating Carfrae by a whopping 23 minutes. One would imagine Frodeno will look for a fast time in Gdynia, too.

First things first for the German, though - at the end of June he'll take on his countrymen and fellow Kona champs Patrick Lange and Sebastian Kienle at the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt.
