Ironman continues its global expansion with its first event in Central Asia. Ironman 70.3 Astana Kazakhstan will take place on June 18, 2018.

Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country and is the size of Western Europe. Astana, the capital, is a city of one million on the Ishim River, which is where the 1.9 km swim will take place. (The start and finish of the swim takes place at the "Astana Triathlon Park.") The two-loop, 90 km, bike course runs through the Astana government district past the President's palace and parliament and follow the Ishim river. The three-loop, 21.1 km, run course takes place at the Astana Triathlon Park.

There will be 50 qualifying slots at the race for the 2018 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.
