Frodeno, McNece and Grant tops in Taiwan

The only surprise in the half-distance was how fast Jan Frodeno went, while Dylan McNeice and Julia Grant made it a New Zealand sweep of the top spots of the podium at Challenge Taiwan.

A year ago we thought Jan Frodeno went fast in winning the half-distance race at Challenge Taiwan, but this year the German star managed to go over three minutes faster, posting a 3:45:02 (24:43/ 2:04:20/ 1:11:22) time trial (there was no one within even an hour of Frodeno in the race) over the half-distance at the race that serves as the Challenge Asia-Pacific Championship.

McNeice and Grant top the full

Dylan McNeice (NZL) took the men's full-distance race, beating last year's champion Fredrik Croneborg to take the win. McNeice and Australian Luke Bell dueled through the swim and bike before the Kiwi pulled clear on the run. Croneborg managed to outrun Bell to take the runner-up spot in the race.

Julia Grant (NZL) and Alyssa Godesky (USA) stayed close through the swim and the bike in the women's race before the Kiwi ran away to take the women's title. Taiwan's Li Shiao-Yu rounded out the podium.
