A new year, a new start: A year ago, Germany's Jan Frodeno and Canadian Lionel Sanders looked to Ironman 70.3 Oceanside as test of their form heading into their competitive seasons. Sanders seemed especially determined to see how he stacked up against the then-defending Ironman world champion. Unfortunately things fizzled quickly when Frodeno had to pull out of the race due to technical issues on the bike. Sanders easily won the race, but wasn't truly satisfied with the win thanks to Frodeno's exit.

The Canadian gets another chance to take on the Olympic gold medalist and two-time Kona champ as the two will line up at his year's race in Oceanside, which takes place on April 7.

The entry list also includes former Ironman 70.3 world champion Tim Reed (AUS), Brent McMahon (CAN), Sam Appleton (AUS) and David McNamee (GBR), as well other serious contenders.

On the women's side too, another German will be one to watch as Ironman 70.3 Dubai champion Anne Haug will take on Great Britain's Holly Lawrence. Other women to watch on the stacked entry list are Americans Heather Jackson and Sarah True.
