He's a four-time ITU world champion. He won his first attempt at the full distance in taking Ironman Mallorca  in 2014. Now he proved once again just how much of a force he can be when it comes to fast racing: Tim Don (GBR) is now the fastest man to finish an Ironman race.

Don's 7:40:43 finishing time at the Ironman South American Championship in Florianopolis, Brazil shattered the previous record, set by Lionel Sanders in Arizona last fall, by over four minutes. He separated himself from the field thanks to a stellar 4:06:56 bike split that put him over 20 minutes ahead of his competition, then followed that up with a 2:46 marathon and overall time that is the second-fastest ever over the full distance - only Jan Frodeno's world-best time from Roth last year is quicker.

South Africa's Kyle Buckingham separated himself from the rest of the chasers on the marathon to take second while Brazil's Igor Amorelli took third.

Cheetham joins the sub-9 club

Susie Cheetham (GBR) enjoyed a solid all-around performance to take the women's title in Brazil, using the day's third fastest swim, second fastest bike and fourth-best run to win the women's race in 8:52:00. Sonja Tajsich racked up her third sub-nine hour performance to take second, followed by Haley Chura, who was also under nine hours to round out the podium.
