New Zealand’s Terenzo Bozzone's path to victory was simple in Miami: get out front and let everyone else chase. The plan worked to perfection as the Kiwi was in the lead pack in the swim, right on the heels of pre-race favorite Michael Raelert who lead the field out of the water.
It didn’t take long for Bozzone go to the front as he put together the day's fastest bike split. Ben Collins was the only one that could come close to matching Bozzone as he followed the Kiwi into T2 looking at a 3:14 deficit. While Bozzone put in a solid run, the field was reordering their positions behind him. Bozzone claimed the win by a margin of 2:36 on Rodolphe Von Berg.
In the women’s race Ellie Salthouse led the field out of the water and then teamed up with Leanda Cave on the bike. Salthouse would lead the pair into T2 by seconds. That would be as close as the women’s race would get as Sallthouse put in the fastest women’s run to earn the win by close to five minutes over her closest rival.
