Just over a month after he took his Ironman debut in Mont-Tremblant, Canadian Cody Beals has both improved his record to a perfect two for two, he's also ensured he'll be on the start line of the 2019 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
Due to "rate of water flow and water quality" the swim was cancelled at the race, which turned the pro-men only event into a bike/ run competition. Beals dominated the 187 km bike ride and followed that up with the day's fastest marathon to take his second full-distance title in just five weeks. The third-place finisher from Mont-Tremblant, Matt Russell, would finish in second, passing Kirill Kotsegarov in the finish chute.
