Javier Gomez isn't just changing race distances in 2018 - he's added eyewear to his ongoing partnership with Roka. TriathlonWorld.com actually scooped this deal in our review of Roka's new A.P.EX eyewear last week, now it's official. Gomez has signed a "multiyear eyewear partnership" with Roka that expands on his technical race apparel and equipment deal with the company.
“I first tried the Advanced Performance eyewear while I was at ROKA’s headquarters in Texas, and right away I knew they were the glasses I should be using everyday,” Gómez says. “There’s nothing like them in terms of weight, retention, and quality of vision. Whether cycling or running, you can’t feel that you’re wearing them but you have an incredible field of view.”
The new A.P.EX sunglasses weigh just 21 to 25 g and are available in five styles with 10 different lens tint options.
Gomez, an eight-time world champion (five ITU world titles, one Xterra world championship and two Ironman 70.3 World Championship wins) has set his sights on the Ironman World Championship this year. He'll take on his first full-distance race at the Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship in Cairns in June.
