Ben Hoffman is returning to his roots - he's signed with Canadian bike company Cervelo. Hoffman began his pro triathlon career in 2007, riding a Cervelo P3.
“It has long been a dream of mine to ride for this extraordinarily inventive and accomplished company,” Hoffman says on the Cervelo website. “With access to a wide range of bikes for various courses and conditions, I know I will have every advantage, and the support of an incredible team of passionate people."
The best kind of news! It's a dream come true to announce my @cervelo bicycles sponsorship in 2019 and beyond. I can't wait to toe the line confident I am riding the finest equipment available in the triathlon space! Hoffman and his wife Kelsey are popular members of the pro triathlon community, a fact acknowledged by Cervelo in the announcement of the new partnership.
“Ben and Kelsey embody a community that has always inspired us to push the boundaries of efficiency and performance,” says Lesley Loughlin, Cervélo’s Marketing Manager, Triathlon. “At the same time, they know how to encourage others, and how to have fun on and around the course. We’re looking forward to having them push our boundaries in those areas, too!”
Hoffman has 13 Ironman (six) and Ironman 70.3 (seven) wins to his credit, including two wins at the Ironman African Championship in South Africa (2016 and 2017). In 2014 he finished second at the Ironman World Championship and was fourth two years later. Last year he had to pull out before the race in Kona because of a stress fracture.
Hoffman was part of the Bahrain Endurance 13 team, but was not included on the 2019 roster. According to his website, he'll return to racing at Challenge Baja in March before heading to South Africa for another shot at the Ironman African Championship.
