Jan Frodeno let us know at the press conference at Ironman Austria that he wouldn't be competing in Chattanooga at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, but until yesterday we weren't sure what his race plans were heading into the defense of his Ironman World Championship title in Hawaii in October.

Frodeno will compete at the Allgäu Triathlon, Germany's oldest triathlon, on August 20. The event is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and consists of a 1.9 km swim, a challenging 84 km bike course and a 20 km run. The event will likely be Frodeno's only race appearance in Germany this year.
