After finishing third in her age group at Ironman Texas last year Michelle Barnes competed in Kona for the fifth time, finishing in 10:59:47. Just a few months later she was back on the Ironman circuit again, taking the 35 to 39 age group at Ironman Cozumel in 10:10:51.

A coach with Trisutto.com, Barnes has an impressive record of Ironman racing, including numerous podiums and some impressive marathon splits - she had the fastest women's marathon of the day when she won her age group at Ironman Australia in 2015 (3:22:40) and ran fast enough at the Ironman World Championship in 2014 that she qualified for the Boston Marathon.
