We called it a year ago! Today we look back to an interiew we did with Lucy Charles last May in recognition of her big day at Challenge Mogan Gran Canaria.

Lucy Charles

We caught up with Lucy Charles at Club La Santa last May as she prepared for Ironman Lanzarote.

Lucy Charles grew up as an elite swimmer. She was a UK national champion at 16 and represented her country internationally by the time she was 17. A shoulder injury sidelined her swimming career for a bit, so, at 20, she turned to triathlon. It didn't take long for her to make a splash on the multisport scene - in 2015 she took the 18 to 24 age group at both the Ironman 70.3 and the Ironman World Championship races.

Last May she turned pro and took third in her pro debut at Ironman Lanzarote. This weekend she finished just six-seconds out of the win at Challenge Gran Canaria, beating Daniela Ryf in the process and signalling her arrival amongst the big leagues of the sport.

We caught up with Charles just before her race in Lanzarote last year and figured it was worth a revisit after her big weekend!
