On a day when many of his competitors were wilting in the heat, The Netherlands’ Jorik van Egdom managed to hold off the rest of the field to take the world title in Cozumel. Earlier this year van Egdom also took the world duathlon title in Aviles, finishing third overall in the elite men's race to take the U23 championship.
