It was a race that would portend her big win in Cozumel just over a month later. In a final tune up before Rio, where Flora Duffy finished eighth, her best finish in her three Olympic appearances, Flora Duffy blizted the field at the Montreal World Cup, riding away from the group and then cruising through the run for an impressive victory.

Duffy would follow a similar strategy in Cozumel, winning the WTS Grand Final and taking the overall title.

In addition to the WTS title, Duffy also defended her World Cross title and took her third straight Xterra World Championship, making 2016 a year to remember for the Bermudan athlete.

Duffy had to miss the opening race of the WTS season in Abu Dhabi due to a hip injury, but will be back to work on defending her title at the WTS Gold Coast event in April. She'll also be in Penticton, B.C., Canada in August to defend her world cross title.
