Patrick Lange will race the 2017 season in the blue uniform of Team Erdinger Alkoholfrei. According to the 30-year-old third-place finisher in Kona last year, he has "found the ideal partner to achieve his goal of winning the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
"Patrick is a great fit in terms of both his athletic ability and character," says Philipp Herold, from Erdinger.
Since his great race at the world championships in Hawaii, Lange has been in the spotlight, especially in Germany, and is already considered by many to be a favorite to take the race this year. Last October he broke the Mark Allen's 27-year-old marathon record by 19 seconds to run onto the podium.
Last year the three-time German duathlon champion made his debut over the long-distance, taking the Ironman North American Championship in Texas.
