American Heather Jackson was three minutes down from countrywoman Jennifer Spieldenner out of the water, but outrode the swim leader by over seven minutes to enjoy a sizeable cushion into T2. Last year's third-place finisher in Kona used a solid run to remain well clear of the rest of the field, taking Ironman 70.3 Calgary in 3:57:20. Spieldenner hung tough for third, finishing just over a minute ahead of Germany's Svenja Thoes.

The day's fastest swim put Josh Amberger in front right from the start of the race and the Australian never looked back as he followed his fast swim up with an equally impressive 1:55:05 bike split, also the day's fastest. Countryman Kieran Roche was solid in all three disciplines to take second in the men's race, while American Jonathan Shearon had the day's second-fastest bike to move him into the final spot on the podium.
